Solar Power Associate Certifciation
This course is designed to prepare students to pass the NABCEP PV Associate certification exam. It is specifically designed for students with a background/experience in electrical and/or construction.
NABCEP (The North American Board of Energy Practitioners) provides certification for renewable energy practitioners. This course covers the knowledge and skills students will need to earn NABCEP’s PV Associate credential, providing them the skill sets needed to sell, design, install, and maintain solar photovoltaic systems. Passing the exam will provide the student with a credential number, permission to use the NABCEP Associate mark in marketing and promotion, and add them to a directory of Associates.
Course topics will include applications of solar photovoltaic systems, including types of systems, their benefits, and components; the information and tools needed to properly explain the benefits and economics of a solar PV system to a prospective customer; the design requirements for choosing equipment, configuring, and sizing of solar PV systems; the installation requirements and procedures for solar PV systems; and the testing, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of completed solar PV installations.
Career opportunities for NABCEP PV Associates include solar photovoltaic salesperson, designer, installer, and maintenance technician.
