Solar Energy Technician: Solar Thermal Systems (ETP 1420)
SOLAR THERMAL SYSTEMS (ETP-1420): The 3-credit course covers the background, essential theory, principles and future of the solar thermal systems. Topics covered are solar fundamentals, solar water heating systems and components, systems installation, check-out and commissioning procedures, troubleshooting and repair, solar pool heating systems, code and safety issues. Each course participant is assigned a project to design, install, and test a simple active direct solar heating system. The hands-on workshop includes electrically wiring and testing the pump and the photovoltaic panel, plumbing activities, as well as the mechanical and electrical installation of the solar thermal system components.
