Photovoltaic Systems
Photovoltaic systems (PV) resemble the major sector of the current renewable energy market that is continuously growing, being a cost-effective and green source of energy. Jordan is witnessing a significant trend in PV Systems incorporation into the national grid thanks to the local legislations, creating a new and remarkable market with many job opportunities.
This course introduces students to both theoretical and practical parts of PV systems. Theoretical parts cover all the necessary knowledge starting from the p-n junction physics and principles, fabrication and testing, novel technologies in solar cells, circuit models and solar fundamentals. The practical side empowers the students with all the information and skills required to design, install, test and operate a working PV system. This includes the legislative and contractual parts, main design principles, simulations and the theoretical background required for the design process.
On successful completion of this unit students will be able to work in any local PV company, either in the design, installation, testing or commissioning departments. In addition to being able to explain the behavior of PV systems theoretically. The skills and knowledge presented in this course is sufficient for undertaking the NABCEP PV Associate exam.
